RE: Slide out topper

I have one, slightly sloped, but still get puddling on it.
I consider it more to keep leaves and sticks off than water frankly. Either way, you are better off with one, than without.

RE: Pink awning stains

Whatever it is, it is strange that it comes out pink. And only near the seams, not anywhere in the middle of the awning.

Pink awning stains

Has anyone seen pink awning stains on their awning?
I have some pink stains, particularly at the seam where the awning attaches to the camper, but also near the seam on one edge too.
They seem to be kind of slowly growing and dont come off with a cleaner.

RE: Warning !! - Overload - No Brakes !!

Darn.. I'm having the same problem and I got under there for 1/2 an hour checking out the wiring and couldn't find anything wrong.
frustrating...I wish I could find a problem like yours.
My immediate advice is to have someone else hook up and see if their brake controller shows the same overload. You can quickly eliminate your truck and brake controller that way.

Warning !! - Overload - No Brakes !!

Somewhat lengthly story here.
When our Jayco 26L was new, we had an occassional warning from our Tekonsha P3 controller "Warning - Overload - No Brakes". This was intermittent and seemed to go away completely after the second trip.
Well, this year, it happened again, but got much more serious when towing from Ocean City, MD back to NH. The condition became permanent.
The Tekonsha manual states this only has 2 causes:
1. A short in the brake wiring
2. A bad controller
I pulled off the highway, since towing with no brakes is simply not an option with a camper weighing in around 6,000 lbs.
I disconnected all wiring (brake controller, camper and camper battery) then reconnected. Still no brakes.
I tried a few herky jerky slow stops to shake things up a little. Still no brakes.
I then followed every brake wire I could see (goes up in to the camper for a while). And low and behold I found a place where the axle mounting plate mounts to the trailer frame, and a brake cable was pinched between the plate and the frame. And pinched well. The plate is held to the frame with several 3/4 bolts.

I had to cut the wire in front and in back of the pinch and splice it together with medical tape (yeesh). Bingo! Brakes are back. Making appointment with the dealer to get a proper splicing or rewiring job

RE: What's a New/Used 2007 Jayco 26L Worth?

Last year, I paid just over 18 for a new 2007.
So I would think 16 - ish

Tires Tires Tires

While preparing the camper for our first trip this year, I found a bubble in the sidewall of one tire, not round, but oblong from tread to rim. Really looked like a defect to me. Good Year dealer said all sidewall bubbles are caused by impact and therefore not covered.
Next Question, My Jayco 26L came with 13" tires. has anyone ever put 14" tires on a camper that had 13? I am finding out that the 13" ones are sometimes hard to come by.
Thanks

I recall having the same question and it went dark after 20 or 30 minutes. I have the P3.

RE: Trailblazer towing mirrors?

I love my CIPA slip-ons. They don't vibrate at all when driving.
They have cutouts for the blinkers on my mirrors. I cutout circles on them for the puddle lights on the bottom of my mirrors.
Cipa Mirrors at JC Whitney
My mirrors are power folding as well, and that works with these on too!

RE: Swagman draw bar mount and the equal-i-zer hitch

I share the same opinion.
Also, the bike rack instructions have a warning that on tight turns the bikes may get crushed against the camper. There is just no real convenient bike rack solution for the modern lightweight campers with noodles for bumpers and no ladder.

RE: To clear or not to clear the snow

I have a hard time imagining that 1 cubic foot of snow could be 15 lbs.
None the less, I am glad I cleared it off, including the 8-inches of ice that made up the bottom layer. I definitely tore the cover a couple of time, but losing $300 would be worth saving an axle, or roof issues.
I wish I cold find affordable covered storage up here in NH.
The best deal I could find this year would have been $300 / mo

RE: To clear or not to clear the snow

I got up there and took most of the ice layer off too.
Now I am a little concerned about the massive snowbank, butting up against it. Hopefully the driveway glacier does not move.

To clear or not to clear the snow

Hello all,
We are firmly in the grips of the awful winter season of 2007-08.
So far almost 13 feet or the white doom here in my little hamlet south-west of COncord, NH.
My question is this:
Do you clear the snow off the camper roof or not?
There is nearly 3.5 - 4 feet on top there now. Does not get to melt much (not enough sun hitting it).
My main concern now is the axels, as opposed to the roof itself. with 4 feet of snow, a rain storm would make a very heavy slush pile I am afraid.
The issue is trying to safely get up and around the camper, as it is surrounded by massive snow banks now. One is 6-8 foot high and 25-30 foot deep now.
